Welcome –

Welcome to Beech Class. A main focus for this term involves the gradual transition from the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum (EYFS) to the National Curriculum. Our aim for Year 1 is to seamlessly move from play-centred learning to a more formal learning environment by early next year.

Throughout the Autumn Term, Year 1 builds upon the EYFS curriculum enabling all children to learn through play.  All children have a balance of independent activities  accessed throughout the continuous provision combined with adult-led focus activities.

I will be on the playground both at the start and end of the day for quick messages. You can also leave messages in their contact books. However, if you need to discuss anything in detail, I am happy to arrange a mutually convenient time for us to do so.

Vision and Ethos

The ethos of our class is in keeping with our school values of;

Potential, Opportunity, Team, Knowledge, Intrinsic, Learning, Nurture.

We want our children to develop positive learning behaviours to ensure they can be, ‘The best that they can be!’

Learning in Beech is practical, fun and engaging to develop a love of learning.

Children’s work

Tapestry does not continue in to Year 1. Evidence of learning is now recorded in their curriculum books. We use Seesaw in Beech class to also share learning. Don’t forget to log on to see updates and photos of what your children has been doing throughout the week.
