Here we are at the dawn of a new academic year. It is an important year in many ways, preparing your child for the new and continued challenges of KS2 as well as ensuring we are developing young people who are confident, caring and ready for life in modern Britain.
It is a responsibility and a privilege that I do not take lightly.

I trust that this will be a year that your child will look back on fondly.  I firmly believe that the best learning takes place when parents and teachers are working together to help each child achieve their full potential. If at any point over the following year you wish to speak to me to discuss your child and their learning please contact the office on 01787 372107 to arrange a time, I will also try to be around on the playground after school on Mondays and Fridays or you can drop me a message on Dojo and I will seek to get back to you as soon as I am able.

If I can be of any help to you over this year please do not hesitate to get in contact.

Kindest regards
D Stevens

Our Class Vision

To be a community of learners who set an example through being brave, kind and diligent.

Ethos

The ethos of our class is in keeping with our School values of;
Potential, Opportunity, Team, Knowledge, Intrinsic, Learning, Nurture

The ethos of our classroom underpins all that we do. I believe the starting point for learning is a positive ethos and climate of respect and trust based upon shared values across the school community, which includes you the parents. As a school we have a fantastic culture and ethos where everyone is striving to ‘be the best they can be’.

All adults in the class contribute to our shared ethos through:

  • – Open, positive, supportive relationships where pupils feel that they are listened to.
  • – Promoting a climate in which the pupils feel safe and secure.
  • – Modeling behaviour that promotes effective learning and wellbeing within the class and wider school community.
  • – Being sensitive and responsive to each child’s wellbeing.

This half term we are looking at the story of the ‘Pied Piper of Hamelin’.
We are writing character and setting descriptions focussing on using expanded noun phrases, similes, alliteration and powerful adjectives.
Here are some videos to help embed this learning at home.

The quickest and easiest way to keep up to date with your child’s learning is through Class Dojo which is updated throughout the school day.
Here are some of our favourite examples of work so far from this term.

We recently visited Colchester, where we explored some of the Roman remains.
