As part of our school improvement priorities, we have begun thinking about how we can improve provision at lunchtimes. We would like to focus on improving the children’s ability to work effectively within a team, develop their creativity, improve their negotiation skills and quality of play, as well as develop resilience in learning. Productive play at lunchtime significantly reduces low level disruption during afternoon lessons.
We have found an excellent initiative called the Scrapstore Play pod. This is a giant shed filled with all the junk you could imagine. Here is a short video of it in action.
The shed gives the children the chance to play freely and with an enormous amount of safe scrap. Unfortunately the Scrapstore costs an initial £9,000 so we are therefore trying to gain a grant to help pay for it. To help us succeed in getting the grant, it would be a great deal of help if you could kindly complete the questionnaire here Playground Survey
