Here at Pot Kiln Primary school we are truly passionate about lifelong learning. Our job is to tap in to the skills and talents of all our young people and inspire them on their journey to success. As Headteacher of our school I am committed to the ‘whole child’.
We strive for the best academic attainment but we also recognise the need to ensure that pupils know how to learn. Today we are preparing our children for jobs that are not yet invented and it is the skills of ‘learning to learn’ that we see as fundamental to a happy and successful future. We are a team who are intrinsically motivated to achieve the best that we can and this too, is want we want for all of our pupils.
We cater for pupils from the ages of 3-11, which includes a 52 place nursery. We have classes ranging from Reception to Year 6. We have light, airy classrooms, interactive whiteboards and a growing number of tablets. We are lucky enough to have a fantastic site which we are developing to ensure that outdoor learning is optimised. We offer ‘Forest Schools’ at the nearby Shawlands Woods as well as swimming onsite in our outdoor pool.
We are an inclusive school, offering support and nurture for all pupils. We have our own schools counsellor, a dedicated speech and language Learning Support Assistant and SENCO. Each class also has a Learning Support Assistant who works closely with the class teachers both in the mornings and afternoons.
We work closely with families and run a range of ‘learning together’ workshops. Parent partnership and pupil voice are very important to us.
Each child is in a pot team currently named: Larkman, Minton, Doulton and Coalport. Pupils collect tokens, rewards and are recognised for their ‘green’ behaviour choices.
Our job is to remove the glass ceiling and this is truly what motivates me every day. If you would like to meet us, you are very welcome to visit. Please contact the school office.
